Tournament Partners
The growing popularity of professional angling has placed the importance
of fisheries conservation and research on a world stage. The FishAmerica
Foundation continues to foster partnerships with tournament outlets to
strengthen the relationship between healthy fisheries and a successful
sportfishing experience.
FLW Outdoors
In 2000, FLW Outdoors announced its partnership with the FishAmerica
Foundation to support local conservation projects at each of the tour
stops along the Wal-Mart/FLW Tour. At every stop on the FLW Tour,
FLW Outdoors donates $5,000 to give something back to the host community
and the local fishery. Since then, FLW Outdoors, with the help of FishAmerica,
has directly donated more than $250,000 and helped to generate more than
$1.7 million for local conservation projects.
FLW Outdoors upped the ante in 2005 with support from BP Lubricants
USA and the “It’s My World” conservation wristband
campaign. At each stop along the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, stylish wristbands
in a variety of sizes can be purchased for a minimum donation of $1,
with all proceeds going directly to conservation efforts at that water
body. All those who participate are able to see their dollars at
work, with all donations supporting the local project for which they
were collected. In the off-season, “It’s My World” wristbands
are available online through the foundation website.

FLW Outdoors continued to increase its support in 2006 with the support
of The National Guard. New for the 2006 season, FLW Outdoors will
provide additional $1,500 per tournament on behalf of the angler with
the heaviest daily bag and an additional $5,000 at the FLW Tour Championship
for the angler who has led during the most days this season on behalf
of The National Guard. The partnership, beginning with the February
tournament at Lake Murray in South Carolina, will raise an additional
$14,000 this season for the local communities.
The Redfish Nation
FishAmerica and The Redfish Nation
launched their partnership in January 2004 to support redfish conservation
and spotlight the growing popularity of redfish fishing. The Redfish
Nation donates a portion of every membership fee to the FishAmerica Foundation
for redfish conservation and spotlight the growing popularity of redfish
among the nation’s anglers.
To kick-off the partnership in 2005, FishAmerica and The Redfish Nation
announced an $8,900 grant to the Coastal Conservation Association of
Florida for redfish habitat restoration in the Indian River Lagoon, Florida.
Project volunteers planted more than 5,000 mangroves along Florida’s
Indian River Lagoon, restoring essential fish habitat for juvenile redfish
and many other species of juvenile sportfish.
